The box arrived like a small treasure chest — over 30 different whey protein samples from across the world, each one promising something slightly different.
Today, we started our first real tasting.
Six green tea flavors.
Just us, a quiet kitchen table, and a surprising amount of prep.
It reminded me a bit of the wine tasting class I once took — precise, deliberate, and oddly meditative. I laid out six clear glasses in a line, labeled with handwritten numbers. There was a weighing scale, a pair of scissors to carefully cut each pouch open, a teaspoon, a measuring cup, warm water, and a cup of clean water for mouth rinsing between sips.
I measured 15g of each powder and poured 200ml of warm water into each glass. No fancy blenders or frothers — I wanted to taste the powder as it really is. Stirred with a spoon. Watched how it mixed. Watched how it changed color.

What We Looked For
As we tasted, we compared each sample gently, thoughtfully — just like we’d compare cups of tea. Here’s what we noticed:
- Aroma – some smelled fresh and tea-like, others artificial or overly sweet
- Sweetness balance – a few were just too sugary, masking any real tea flavor
- Tea strength – some had only a hint of matcha, others were bolder (but not always better)
- Mouthfeel – was it smooth or chalky? Thin or creamy?
- Color – pale green? murky beige? how close to real tea?
- Mixability – did it blend cleanly, or clump at the bottom?
- Aftertaste – this was the deal-breaker for many; the artificial sweeteners lingered too long
Some samples were disappointing — too bland, too fake, or too harsh. A couple felt surprisingly balanced, and one even made me smile.
Our Process
We didn’t rush. We wrote notes by hand, tasted in silence, and discussed after each round. My tasting sheet is probably a little messy (you’ll see it in the photo), but it holds honest impressions.
After a few passes and discussions, we each picked our top three. They weren’t perfect — but they were good enough to imagine in a daily routine. Calming. Clean. Possible.
Why We’re Doing This
This isn’t just about flavor. It’s about building something that feels right — a protein powder that honors the simplicity of tea, and fits the rhythm of our lives. Something real. Something women like me can actually enjoy drinking, every day.
We’re not rushing. We’re learning. And this tasting was a reminder that even small steps — like six glasses on a table — can feel exciting when they’re moving you toward something you believe in.
Stay tuned — this is just the beginning.
