I have always been active, not a pro athlete, but kept moving. When I discovered yoga, it became a daily practice for nearly twelve years. So when a routine check-up in November 2021 stamped the word prediabetes on my chart, everything stopped.
I couldn’t believe my eyes. But a second test made me accept.
“More veggies, more exercise” the doctor said, words I’d followed for years.
What have I done wrong? I left the clinic feeling betrayed; every bite of food now tasted like doubt.
Friends told me it was “normal” at this stage of life, “It will go away,” they say.
I wasn’t convinced. .
I dove into the science of diabetes—an enormous rabbit hole, and soon found myself lost in the sea of tongue-twisting biology terms. It was a struggle, but I knew there were answers on the far shore, so I kept swimming. Little by little, the jargon lifted its veil.
Metabolic pathways, insulin signaling, keto, Mediterranean, intermittent fasting. I learned to wear a continuous-glucose monitor like a wrist-watch, to read DEXA scans like reading novels. I listened to podcasts, lectures repeatedly, lifted heavier weights instead of yoga, and spent long hours in Zone 2 training
The journey has been long, sweaty, and sometimes lonely—full of experiments, moments of self-doubt, and the occasional raised eyebrow. Yet determination met data:
- +6 pounds of muscle
- Prediabetes reversed
- Strength and confidence restored—and still rising
Along the way I realized how crucial protein is for building muscle, but every powder I tried tasted artificial. As a tea lover, I dreamed of marrying clean protein with the gentle flavor of real tea. That dream became tProtein—tea protein for tea lovers. Its fragrance grounds my dawn workouts; its warmth comforts late-night study sessions.
